Drax Technology Shortlisted for Fire Safety Project of the Year

We are proud to announce that Drax Technology has been shortlisted for the prestigious Fire Safety Project of the Year award at the Fire & Security Matters Awards 2025, in recognition of our pioneering collaboration with University of Exeter to upgrade and futureproof their fire and safety alarm infrastructure.

The awards ceremony will take place on 5th of June 2025, at the Coventry Building Society Arena, where industry leaders and safety professionals will come together to celebrate excellence in fire and security.

Our project tackled a major challenge: replacing bespoke fire alarm panels dating back to the 1990s that had become unsupportable due to lack of spare parts. Beyond modernising hardware, the University needed a reliable, integrated solution to safeguard against frequent power and IT network failures.

In partnership with Alarmtech and the University’s IT teams, we installed our AMX1 software across five key locations, backed by dual-SIM, dual-modem 4G routers and UPS systems to ensure uninterrupted service. The SafeVue dashboard now provides real-time, device-level alarm data and historic event insights, enabling faster response times and more efficient weekly testing. The system also integrates with external platforms like Planon and SafeZone, streamlining maintenance and emergency communications.

This transformative project has not only enhanced fire safety across multiple campuses but also improved operational resilience and efficiency.

We’re honoured to be recognised, and we wish the very best of luck to all fellow finalists. We look forward to celebrating with you at what promises to be an incredible evening for the industry!
